Drona
f we tell ‘Daringly Real Omnipresent Natural Abhishek’, then, you are just bound to feel that we have gone bonkers about Abhishek Bachchan. Well, for starters, that’s just an ellipsis that we have made forDRONA, which also happens to be the most eagerly awaited film of next year. Drona, for starters, stars Abhishek Bachchan (as reportedly) in the most breath taking role of a lifetime, along with his on-screen lady love Priyanka Chopra. The film is directed by Goldie Behl. The adjoining pics are just some of the pics that are doing its rounds on the net. And if they are to be believed, then, we really have a superhero in the making. What remains to be seen is that will Dronadethrone Hrithik from the superhero position?
Eros International has announced the release dates of its key forthcoming releases GOD TUSSI GREAT HO and DRONA. GOD TUSSI GREAT HO will release on the Independence Day weekend [15th August], while DRONA will hit the screens on another holiday weekend, Thursday, 2nd October on the occasion of Idd and Gandhi Jayanti. Some other releases from the Eros line-up in the coming quarter include MEHBOOBA on 11th July, followed by MONEY HAI TOH HONEY HAI on 25th July and HIJACK on 29th August.
The one person besides Abhishek who was really baffled to be informed about Abhishek's body-building plans was his producer Shrishti Behl. After reading that Abhishek intended to go bare-chested for Drona, Shrishti called up Abhishek to complain. "You've decided to develop your musles, shave you chest and go bare-bodied for Drona. And you haven't even told us, the producers. Not fair!"Actually, Abhishek himself was unaware of his sinewy plans. But then as his much wittier and far more wry dad says, "Nowadays we've to read in the papers and watch on television every morning to know what we're doing in our lives."For the record Abhishek has no bare-chested scenes in Drona or any other film. He's intrinsically shy about undressing or making love on camera. In fact one of the reasons why he turned down Mira Nair's The Namesakewas a stripping and kissing sequence. Abhishek's loss was Kal Penn's gain.
Priyanka Chopra has shown her fighting skills in Don and she is all set to do an encore in Goldie Behls Drona along with Abhishek Bachchan. There have been rumours of her catfight with Kareena Kapoor. In her childhood, Priyanka Chopra was interested in becoming a criminal psychologist. So is the action adrenaline connection a recently occurred phenomenon or does Priyanka have a history behind it?Well, if one reported incident is the judge, Priyanka Chopra was getting trained way back in her childhood. She did nothing extraordinary to master her fighting skills nor did she go out of the way. All she did was broke a girls nose in school! Yes, Priyanka actually broke a girls nose in her tenth grade in school. Thankfully, for a change in that age, the fight was not for a boy nor was it for some silly materialistic gain. Apparently, the girl said something racist to Priyanka at that point of time. She said some really annoying things to her. To top it all, the girl wanted to wash dirty linen in public. Priyanka agreed and broke her nose in the basketball court! Priyanka however has a golden, kind heart. After coming across the aforementioned incident, one would be forced to think otherwise. But Priyanka was never a heartless girl after all. The very next day, she went to the hospital to see her victim with flowers. She thinks it was a very gentle act as she was still scared of facing her that day. Today, decades later Priyankas good deeds make her shine proving that one incident actually is not sufficient proof of somebodys nature. If you are wondering what happened to the girl punched by Priyanka in school, she was fine later and no, Priyanka was not punched back!
Not many will be aware of the fact that actress-MP Jaya Bhaduri had slipped and fallen down and injured her ankle during the Bikaner schedule of Goldie Behl's Abhishek starrer 'Drona'.According to her megastar husband Amitabh Bachchan, the incident had taken place last month, while Jaya was stepping down the stairs, on the sets of the film. However, Jaya did not take the injury seriously and neglected it and it is only now being realized that the ankle injury was quite grave and it has now aggravated. We wish her a speedy recovery!
Drona the film directed by Goldie Behl starring Bollywood biggies like Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra seems to be under trouble even before its release. The director is facing an unusual problem not with the actors or producers but with animals. A horse died on the sets while shooting on Thursday at Kolyath in Bikaner. The Bishnoi community lodged a complaint with two independent NGOs namely People for Animal and Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. According to the NGOs, the horse was buried without a post-mortem. However the producers beg to differ and claim that there was no cruelty towards animals. Infact they hadnt even started the shoot and werent there for enough hours to be cruel to animals.

The 55th Tiger Balm Filmfare Awards, South, had it all – glitz, glamour and emotions that just couldn’t be kept in check.
It was a moment to cherish. It was a moment that misted your eyes, brought a lump to your throat and warmed the cockles of your heart, all at the same time. It was the moment when father and Tiger Balm Filmfare Lifetime Achievement award winner Sivakumar shared the stage with his two strapping sons Surya and Karthi, who gave the award to him. The standing ovation was spontaneous and when Surya called out “amma, amma,” to his mother to share the stage, it underlined the fact that traditional value systems of the Indian family were still going strong. Not a dry eye in the audience.
It all started as Madhavan and Sindhura walked down to invite the audience to experience the show of a lifetime, the thousands of film-crazy fans in the Nehru Indoor Stadium cheered enthusiastically. After about four scintillating hours of awards and entertainment, Chennaiites went back to their homes thoroughly satisfied with the grandeur and glamour the event and the evening Awards offered them.
Emotions ran high as Paruthiveeran made a clean sweep with six awards that included the Best Film Award and the Best Actor Award. It was an ecstatic moment for the Sivakumar family, with father Sivakumar and son Karthi hugging the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Best Actor Award respectively.
As the audience experienced a rare celebration of South Indian cinema, the heady music and the energetic dances between the ward presentations had them on their feet. Sizzling dance performances by stars of the industry such as Shriya Saran (numbers like Vaaji Vaaji) and Rambha (numbers like Sei Edhavadhu Sei) had the crowd asking for more. Shobana and Vineeth’s impeccable steps lent grace to the occasion.
The emcees of the evening – Madhavan and Sindhura – delighted the crowd with their poise and a perfect sense of humour. Daring to be different in the middle of the event, Maddy walked towards the seated guests for an audience interaction and surprised them. “Why don’t you sing a song for us, Tabu,” he asked the pretty actress, even as she gushed and smiled at the eager lensman. She later obliged the audience when on stage to give away an award.
The Best Music Director Award went to AR Rahman for his tunes in Sivaji, but the music whiz was not present to receive his award, much to the disappointment of many fans.
“We don’t get to talk about movies much at home,” said Paruthiveeran Karthi, who was on cloud nine, “I consider my dad getting the Lifetime Award more special than my award.” For brother Surya, it was a double treat to watch his family dominate the ‘Black Ladies!
