Chocolate - 3.5/5 - One year after ‘Classmates’, Prithviraj again tastes success with a campus film having a unique storyline. More than anything, it is the hilarious dialogues that keep the film alive and kicking. Debutant writer duo Sachi-Sethu and director Shafi should be given credit. Salimkumar was terrific throughout. But music of the film was a disappointing.
Nasrani - 3/5 - After ‘Prajapathi’, ‘Nasrani’ is another Renjith blunder, and once again it is Mammootty who will have to suffer. Director Joshy proves that he is past his prime. The experienced writer and director had nothing but the tried and tested formula to offer, something that can only be enjoyed by front-benchers. In short, everything about the film is highly forgettable.
Paradesi - 3/5 - A docudrama revolving around the central character, brilliantly portrayed by Mohanlal. Despite having some good performances from others as well, the film fails to make any major impact on the audience, partly because of the direction and partly because there is no surprise element attached to it. But it has some great melodious songs.
Blackcat - 2.5/5 - Suresh Gopi’s attempt at changing his appearance had no effect on the film. Director Vinayan, who is creating flops after flops, again couldn’t recreate the magic touch that he had. He is still using his regular set of actors that he often works with. And to top it all, the film has the same plot that we have seen in numerous other films.
Hallo - 4/5 - ‘Hello’ is a hilarious comedy with some suspense attached. Rafi-Mecartin at last seemed to have regained their Midas touch. The ease at which Mohanlal has portrayed his comic-character has to be seen to believe. And he looks as handsome as ever. It is an all-Mohanlal show, with some good support from Suraj Venjaramoodu, Salimkumar and Jagathy. Together they provide entertainment unlimited!
