Alibhai - 3/5 - Shaji Kailas proves again and again that bettering ‘Narasimham’ is beyond him. Though first half of ‘Alibhai’ was well directed, he failed miserably in the second. Except for looking rather fat, especially in dance sequences, Mohanlal was superb with his dialogues, mannerisms and action. Music also was downright bad. Like other Shaji Kailas films, the camera-work, editing and background scores were excellent.
Mission 90 days - 3/5 - The story is told in an implausible manner, very much against common man's liking. The second half is much better than the first and Mammootty has come up with yet another power-packed performance. Camera-work and editing is excellent. But overall, Major Ravi has come up with a disappointing film.
Arabi katha - 3.7/5 - The film is an honest take on the current state of communism in Kerala and the film also gives an insight to the hardships faced by keralites in Dubai. Sreenivasan plays Cuba Mukundan the way only he can play. Lal Jose once again shows what an excellent craftsman he is; definitely the best in the business right now. Credit should also go to Iqbal Kuttipuram the script writer. Not a film for all kind of audience, but a must-watch for ardent communist lovers.
Hallo - 4/5 - ‘Hello’ is a hilarious comedy with some suspense attached. Rafi-Mecartin at last seemed to have regained their Midas touch. The ease at which Mohanlal has portrayed his comic-character has to be seen to believe. And he looks as handsome as ever. It is an all-Mohanlal show, with some good support from Suraj Venjaramoodu, Salimkumar and Jagathy. Together they provide entertainment unlimited!
July 4 - 2.5/5 - With enough illogical situations and repetitive scenes, ‘July 4’ is another cock and bull story from a very experienced director and actor. Dileep and heroine Roma have done a decent job whereas director Joshiy seems to have lost his way completely. Written by Sibi K. Thomas-Uday Krishna team, the film has lots of flaws and is a definite no-go at the box-office.
