The Karate Kid

Cinema and the underdog have made a delightful couple. Cinema has ensured that the underdog mostly wins, while the underdog stories have usually ensured a good box office run.
In "The Karate Kid", we witness the rebirth of the ultimate American teenage underdog story.
Popular Detroit kid Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) finds himself in China after his mother's transfer. From day one he gets bullied and beaten by a kung-fu kid Li, till the maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) comes to his rescue, menacing his opponents without even raising a punch.
When Han and Dre go to Li's Kung Fu class to tell the kids to lay off him, Li's instructor threatens them. Han finds a way out by telling him that Dre will fight his students, but in the open Kung Fu tournament.
Han now trains Dre, but frustrates him. It's only when Han demonstrates that kung-fu lies in everything that he begins to understand. As expected, the underdog wins, but not after getting over insurmountable odds on the way.
Director Harald Zward does not fail the popular original. He takes efforts in painting his characters with different shades of life and pain. What is, however, most interesting is the film's politics.
Throughout history Hollywood has excelled in bashing up America's enemy nations in cinema - Germany during the world wars and Russia during the Cold War. Right now, if there's any nation that is a threat, it is China."The Karate Kid" plays with America's anti-China sentiment by having an average black kid go to the heart of the China, and beat them in their own game. The kid in the original film was white. Here it is a black kid, symbolising the presidency of Barack Obama, who is determined to 'kick ass' of China.
Papa (Will) Smith and Mama (Jada Pinkett) Smith (producers of the film) have found their son's career the perfect 'silver- platter' start, unlike their own acting careers which is a true underdog story.
Sadly, you'll not see much of Chan's wonderful fight choreography that has made even the worst films enjoyable. Make no mistakes, it is a film for and of Jaden Smith, and so far in his three films, he has definitely not disappointed audiences.

Sherlock Holmes 2 which was in production stage for quite a long time. This flick has an interesting subtitle, ‘The Curious Incident of the Third Dimension’. This long production project is slated to its release by December 16, 2011. This flick is 3D. This is supposed to be competent for Alvin and the Chipmunks and Mission Impossible, which are also filmed as 3D. Keeping the profit in the mind, these films won’t be filmed at the same time. Either they would release a week ahead of other or by lagging a week. This flick is mainly aimed to attract the kids. It would be a kid loving movie as per the confident director.
If all these 3D movies are released together none will get the required market value, and hence the decision is made to release either before or after a week. As Sherlock e is still in pre production stage, there is no much detailed information about this flick. Only reliable and confirmed information is that Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law and Guy Ritchie are back again through this movie.

‘Abduction’, the new flick brings Sigourney Weaver to star opposite Taylor Lautner and Lily Collins. This movie is produced by Lautner Tailor under the banner Gotham Group, Vertigo Entertainment. Lautner portrays Weaver as a psychiatrist, where she is discovering her own baby’s picture in a missing person website. This hilarious flick is directed by known director, John Singleton. The script work which the heart of a movie is handled by Shawn Christensen for this flick.
This flick is slated to begin its shooting by July. The story of the movie revolves in and around the locations of Pittsburgh. This flick is produced by a team of producers including Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman, Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Doug Davison and Tailor Made’s Dan Lautner and Gotham group’s Jeremy Bell and Vertigo’s Gabriel Mason. It’s after this flick Weaver will be seen in Disney’s comedy flick, ‘You Again’.

Eisenberg has mentioned that he spent a good amount of the day in the press junket working for the upcoming Adam Sandler’s comedy flick, ‘Grown Ups’. This flick is directed by Dennis Dugan. In the conversation with him he revealed that his signed to make Sandler’s next flick titled, Jack and Jill. Till now the actor has confirmed that he is playing the role of a pair of twins in the movie. This movie is expected to be romantic flick.
The actor was very much happy to play a dual role. The actor revealed that he will deliver Grown Up first following to which he will have Jack and Jill in the cards. Though the flick is less a romantic comedy, an unwelcome-house-guest comedy will be the best. The movie is like this, the male twin is married and comedy plot is set in such a way that the female version falls in love with the male, its how this way the story is penned. British celebrity Katie Price reportedly has shown a interest in spiritual trip to holy river Ganga in India.
According to reports, Katie (Katrina Amy Alexandria Alexis Infield Price), 31, has shown interest in taking a dip in Ganga, spiritual visit to India, evolving a new persona through spiritualism, cleansing her soul, finding her true self, visiting holy sites and temples of India, and finding inner peace.
